There was disappointment for Montrose FC’s women’s side as they lost out 1-0 in the SWF Championship Cup final to Dryburgh.

Both sides went in to the final in good form and a tight match was expected.

That was just how things turned out with Dryburgh getting their noses in front and then battling back against Mo pressure to equalise.

Megan Robb netted in the first 45 to give Dryburgh a lead they refused to give up.

Eilidh Reid’s effort, which came back off the bar, was the closest Montrose came to pulling level.

Montrose: Sangster; Reid, Carter, Brough, Culley; Johnstone (Clews, 74), Glennie, Bruce (Anderson, 74); Gammie, Ridgeway, Grant.

This weekend Craig Feroz’s side will return to league business as they aim to bounce back straight away.

On Sunday they travel to Downfield Park to face Dundee City FC.
